Data Engineering and BI Lead

Job Description

Role description:  This role is responsible for managing data lake and other data platforms including data engineering, data pipelines, BI and dashboards. The candidate will work with a team of professionals, collaborate with various departments, and ensure the effective utilization of IT technologies to drive efficiency, innovation, and growth.

Key responsibilities:

• Create a forward looking data strategy for next 3-5 years. 
• Working with business teams, IT functional teams to conceptualize, design, build and deliver data assets.
• Manage data lake and other data platforms (Databricks, Synapse etc) including, data architecture, data engineering and ETL processing and data pipelines across the eco-system
• Lead the BI platform management and delivery using various BI platforms like Tableau, Power BI etc
• Lead and manage a team of data engineers and BI analysts/developers to set-up clear objectives, provide guidance, and foster a collaborative team environment.
• Dashboard Design: - 1) Design intuitive and visually appealing dashboards that provide actionable insights. 2)Ensure dashboards are user-friendly and aligned with business needs.
• End-to-end accountability for service continuity, quality, resilience, and end-user NPS.
• Ensure all applications are designed using ‘secure by design’ principles by working collaboratively with cyber security team.
• Manage and control the project and support budgets with a specific focus on continuous review and optimization of the TCO.
• Develop a high-performing team - envisage and hire/nurture right team to deliver the ambition. 

Key stakeholders:

• Business Executives: Functional leaders across Sales and Marketing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, HR etc and their teams to understand business requirements.
• IT teams: IT Functional teams
• Product and Implementation partners
• Product Managers and delivery leads from IT horizontal teams within SAP etc.

Skills required:

Technical Skills:

• Deep understanding of Microsoft Azure stack – ADF, Synapse, Databricks, Azure monitoring, ADLS etc
• Good exposure in Python, SQL, Pyspark 
• Hands-on knowledge and understanding of BI platforms like Tableau and PowerBI
• Good understanding of cloud architecture
• Extensive technical knowledge to help decide on escalated troubleshooting issues across domains
• Experience with data modeling and ETL processes.

• Experience across a range of companies with a strong consumer focus, combined with an outstanding communication and leadership skills, particularly strong in liaising between business and technology organization.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Business acumen to translate technical concepts into actionable insights.
• Project management expertise to deliver results on time and within budget.
• Understanding of industry-specific challenges and opportunities.
